GIRLS NIGHT IN

 Let’s have a party!

Girls gone WILD!

First, let’s decorate!  The party was at my daughter’s place for her and her girlfriends. Her chalkboard wall was ready to get wild with some colorful zebra stripes. I added the banner.…why?  Because it is not a party without a banner! ;o)

Next we need food!!  I prepared some of my daughter’s favorites.

Cocktail Meatballs
Cheese Fondue with bread and apples for dipping
Chicken Taquitos
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles
Peanut Butter Pie

All served on zebra plates!

I prepared the peanut butter pie in little canning jars.  I topped each lid with a leopard print and tied on a mini fork.

I wrapped small nut cups with leopard spotted paper to go with the WILD theme.
Inside each one is a chocolate chip cookie dough truffle.

Next up, drinks!

I simply served lemonade plus a peach schnapps spiked lemonade.

They were served in decorated Starbuck bottles complete with hanging monkey!

HAPPY NEW YEAR

 NIGHT OWL
NEW YEAR’S EVE Party!

PARTY DETAILS: First I decorated the family room; mainly the fireplace mantel.  I cut huge owl silhouettes out of black poster board and taped them to some big old windows.  I filled up the mantel with lots of candles and many more owls!  Hanging from the ceiling is a circle garland made by cutting 250 2″ circles out of various papers and folding them in half.  I simply glued them to a string and tacked them to the ceiling beams!  What a simple idea but it sure makes a great PARTY statement! I might leave it up for a few extra days!

I set up a little “Photo Booth” in the corner of the room, the kids had some fun with the signs which I purchased at Party City.  (I added the skewers.)

Fun signs and tattoo mustaches!

More owl decorations!  Great owl images printed up and secured to the window panes of another old window.

I hung streamers to make the area festive.  This is where we served some punch.

Additional party decor included some owl photos which were hung on some branches plus some dictionary art!
Various chex mixes are in the glass canisters ready for snacking!

The entryway welcomed everyone with noise makers and some champagne chilling in a bucket. We were ready for midnight!

CHEERS!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Dictionary Art

I looked for an old dictionary.  I wanted one with yellowed pages.  I found one at my local thrift store.

I scanned certain pages, then printed vintage clip art on the pages.  I embellished the photo with watercolors, paint, papers and ink.

Once framed they are a simple pieces of art.  I’ve made many for a craft show at the Old Tobacco Barn.

You might be a REDNECK if .…

you throw a
REDNECK PARTY!

The backyard was transformed into a REDNECK Fall Fest
for a good ol’ boy’s birthday!

Larry was used to greet the guests.
Larry was clip art that I had enlarged and then I painted him.

Our red truck was used as a bar.  Old wash bins and tubs were used to hold the pop and beer.  (Thanks Dawn!) Punch was served in a big soup pot.  Lights at the “bar” were lights poked inside Jack Daniels bottles.

Fall punch and lemonade was served at the Moonshine stand.
Drinks were poured into mason jars and each straw was tagged with something redneck.

Snacks were served off a white truck tailgate.
The menu of everything on the truck was written on the shutter.
Burlap, old wooden crates and mums made the “snack shak” old the rustic.

I baked 50 apple pies (birthday boy’s favorite!) for dessert plus filled up huge cookie jars with ding dongs, ho hos and twinkies.

Signs on the cookie jars were secured with duct tape, redneck style.

Banners were made with duct tape to decorate the deck and hunting lodge.

Flannel was used as tablecloths and weeds in bottles and cans were decorations.

Hay couch, hay bar table and hay benches:

More decorations: Bubba the scarecrow and a wheel barrow full of pumpkins, mums and apples.

Dinner was served on pie pans.
Paper towels were used as napkins.

Funny REDNECK stuff:

For a cold fall day, extra flannel shirts were available for any chilly hillbilly.

Git R Done!
Thanks for all the help setting up and cleaning up!
Also, remember my blog as a widget called “fancy box”, click on any photo and it will enlarge into a fancy box.  There is a lot of detail going on in some of the photos!
